Udupi, Oct 13: “I am hurt by the statements of gheroing our Math in the name of Pankti Bedha. These statements were made during the Udupi Chalo Jatha last Sunday. What is the relationship between Udupi Chalo and Pankti Bedha? I am asking for protection from the government for the Math. There is a conspiracy to spoil the relationships between Brahmins and non-Brahmins. If they try to gherao the Math, I will go on fast. ” said Pejawar Swamiji here on Thursday, October 13 while speaking to media.

“There is no Pankti Bedha at the Math. There is one Pankti food service for people from all religions. Some intellectuals are making wrong remarks in the name of communal harmony to create drift between people from different communities. I had condemned the killing of innocents in the name of cow protection. Why they dragged the issue of Pankti Bedha in the Praveen Poojary murder issue?” Swamiji asked.

“Chalo Udupi Jatha has spoiled the atmosphere in Udupi. I am told that a Swacchatha Andolana has been scheduled to take place on October 23. Police should take measures so that peace remains here. They have said that my mind has to be cleaned. Basavanna had said that if the people with Lingadeekshe ate with the ones without Lingadeekshe, then they would be born as dogs in the next seven births. Are they ready to condemn Basavanna for this?” Swamiji continued.

“I follow the paths of Buddha, Shankara, Ramanuja and Mahatma Gandhi. My mind is clean. Let those people who criticized me clean their minds and souls. There should not be hatred in the name of harmony. As there are chances of some people attacking the Math, I ask the police to give us protection. Dharmasthala, Subramanya, Sringeri and some other places have separate food serving places as per the traditional food habits of Brahmins. Why only Krishna Math is being targeted?”

“How can the Vishwa Hindu Parishat, which was formed by the Math seers to eradicate untouchability, can practice the same? Muslims and Christians are also seen serving in Paryaya. How can I refuse if Dalits touch my feet when I go to their places? The people who are against my reforms of bringing the Dalits into mainstream are doing all wrong things by telling Dalits and Muslims to go against us. But these people will not succeed. I challenge them to have a debate with me.” Swamiji said.
