Udupi, Oct 13: The historical Ashtakunda Ashtalaxmi yaga with Eka kunda Navachandi yaga concluded at Sri Durga Adishakti temple, Doddanagudde near Udupi here recently.
Trustee of the Kshetra Sri Ramanand Guruji initiated all the religious rituals by lighting the lamp for Goddess Sri Devi, while Kusuma Nagraj, in charge of the Kshethra conducted agni prathishta.
All devotees were welcomed in a beautifully decorated Yaga mantapa, accompanied with panchavadya kombu, kahale, chende and prayer.
After that Guruji performed Swasti, punyahavachana, devanandi, ruthvik varni, ambarabhimani shanthi. Yaga mantapa (platform) was decorated with green leaves and colourful flowers. A special arrangement was made for conducting nine yagas at a time. An art of ashtabhuja Adi shakti Durga was made in five colours (pancha varna).
It was a spiritual treat for all the gathered devotees. A utsva murthi of goddess Sri Adhishakti placed in a cradle under decorated roof was just in front of yaga mandala.
The devotees held mass prayer accompanied with vadyagosha (instrumental music). The entire spiritual proceedings made people mesmerized.
Eka kunda yaga
Eka kunda yaga was performed with religious piety in the presences of devotees. They offered mangala dravas (ghee, tender coconut, shugar cane juice, milk, sandalwood, raktha chandana and ashtagandha) to yajna kunda on fixed quantity.
On behalf of yaga, they worshipped Brahmana Suhasini, kannikaradhane, performed Acharya(guru) pooja, dampati(couple) pooja, brahmachari aradhana.
Hundreds of devotees were gathered here since morning in queue for the programme.
Anna prasadam was distributed to the gathering. All religious poojas were performed on pre-decided muhoorthas.
In the afternoon, Sri Adishakti idol was placed at the cradle, which was decorated with blooming flowers.
A devotional dance was performed by Dr Manjari Chandra.
The Sharannavaratri (nine days) concluded with all religious grandeur.
“Success of the yajna is God’s blessings for the devotees,” said Kusuma Nagraj.
