Ballari, Oct 16: A 20-year-old girl, who was to get married during November, died on Saturday, October 15 because of a naughty monkey.

Sushma (20), daughter of Mundaragi Ashok, living in Mariyammanahalli in the city, had gone up the terrace to check the water level in the tank there. When she was shouting at her mother to switch off the motor as water had reached the brim, a monkey that was nearby suddenly pounced on her. She tried to shy away from the jumping monkey and lost her balance. She fell from the terrace and suffered serious injuries to her head.

Although she was immediately taken to local Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences, Sushma could not be saved.

Sushma was the eldest of three daughters of Mundaragi Ashok,  whose happens to be a joint family. Her marriage had recently been fixed with a distant relative from Hubballi. She was to enter wedded life on November 16.

Her death has come as a rude jolt for the family of which Sushma was a loving and caring member. Her parents and relatives were inconsolable at her untimely demise.
