Moodbidri: Yakshagana Artiste and Organizer to Visit Dubai for Stage Shows

Mangalore, Dec 30: Noted Yakshagana artiste Siddakatte Chennappa Shetty and well-known Yakshagana organizer of Moodbidri Shantaram Kudva have been invited to attend programmes to be organized by Yakshamitraru of Dubai in the second week of January at various places in the UAE, said Pulkeri Prabhakara Kamath and Giridhar Nayak Kodyadka.

The information was made available to Daijiworld office on receipt of a confirmation by the artistes from the organizers to this effect.

Siddakatte is well known in both Tenkutittu and Badagutittu formats of Yakshagana. He has served in the field of Yakshagana for over three decades and has been honoured with several titles in recognition of his oratory skills and talents.

Kudva has been a pioneer in Yakshagana in Moodbidri and largely responsible for popularizing this folk art, which is unique to Mangalore and the surrounding districts. He has also organized several 'Talamaddale' folk presentations. As an organizer, he has been maintaining very cordial relationship with the artistes of Yakshagana. 

The Yakshamithraru troupe of Dubai has been in the forefront of promoting Yakshagana in the UAE over the last few years. During these years, they have invited noted artistes from DK and Udupi districts to perform in the Gulf.

'Dakshadwara' and 'Bharghava  Vijaya' are the plays expected to be staged in the UAE. Siddakatte will be honoured by Yashamitraru organization of Dubai.
