Mangaluru, Oct 17: Jet Airways in a press statement, regarding the silent strike Visskan employees, has said that security concerns have prompted it to stop security passes to contract workers.
The statement reads “Due to heightened security concerns at certain airports, and with the resultant revised ground handling policy, authorities have declined to renew airport security passes of certain contractual workers. The airline is bound by the prevailing rules governed by airport security. This has culminated into the contractual staff related incident.”
The statement also says that “Flight operations in and out of Mangaluru remained normal, with effective manning of available staff and executives.”
Visskan Aviation looks after the maintenance and other services of Jet Airways.

Mangaluru, Oct 16: The silent strike by the employees of Visskan Aviation with the demands to reappoint the expelled employees and to sack their manager, who is allegedly involved in harassing the employees, has stepped into the third day.
Speaking to Daijiworld Media on Sunday October 16, one of the employees Ashwith who is also part of the protest said, “From almost a year now, we have been harassed by the higher officials without any valid reasons. The prime reason for harassment is that we have objected the smuggling carried out by the higher officials including the lady security officer from Jet airways and Visskan Mangaluru airport operations manager Anuraj, supervisors Prakash, Prakash VP, and Avinash.”
“Three employees Dinesh, Yadav and Krishna who objected to this and tried to form a union against them. These three were dismissed from their jobs. One more employee named Rakshith who entered the flight to clean the washroom too has been suspended and now they are not giving the entry passes for them at the airport.”
The protestors demanded that three employees Dinesh, Yadav and Krishna be taken back and the manager Anuraj must be sacked.
While contacted, manager Anuraj said, “We are ready to speak to the employees. It is a conspiracy by the expelled employee Krishna to start the Shivsena branch among the employees by using these employees and hence they have gone ahead with the protest. We had suspended Rakshith only for two days and he can resume his duty. The three employees were dismissed for violating discipline.”
Few of the office bearers from the Hindu Mahasabha also visited the protest and expressed solidarity. The protest was staged near the airport entrance.
Visskan Aviation is the Bengaluru based company which looks after the maintenance and other services of the Jet Airways.
