Udupi: 20th Coastal Student Sahitya Sammelana inaugurated

Udupi, Oct 17: As the proverb goes "'Opportunity is the door to fortune', illustrating the fact that when fortune knocks, the door needs to be opened. And so I utilized this opportunity very well. The blessings of my seniors inspired me to achieve my goal in the field of litterature for which I was awarded by the President of India," said national award winner Panchami Maruru," at the 20th Coastal Student sahitya Sammelana, held recently.

The sammelana was inaugurated with a felicitation to Sammelana president Anujna Bhat Kateel. The programme was jointly organized by Mithra Mandali Kota, Manjunath Pai Memorial, a first grade professional and business management college, Kannada Sahithya Parishat, Udupi district and Ajekaru Hobali unit, Karkala.

Students exhibited their interest in literature and culture. "Students must grow under the guidance of their seniors and allow them to light up the lamp of their life," said Anujna.

She also stressed that child writers should be awarded on Children's Day itself and that every school must be encouraged to promote cultural programmes. Government plans must be employed in order to encourage them.

Mohammed Ali, Moodbidri presided over the programme.

An attractive magic show was performed by Thejaswini K Kasargod.

18 students were felicitated on the occasion for their dedication.

Sharat Kanangi inaugurated the photography exhibition held by photographer Nithesh P Byndoor.

Masuma welcomed the guests. Chief convener Shekhar Ajekar addressed the keynote. Ramesh and Suchitha compered the programme.

The programme began with invocation by Remona Ivet Periera.
