Mangaluru: Five arrested for armed robbery at Kateel priest’s house

Mangaluru, Oct 17: Bajpe and CCB police have nabbed five accused in connection with the robbery at the chief priest and hereditary trustee of Kateel Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple, Vasudev Asranna, at Gidikere on October 4, revealed police commissioner Chandra Sekhar.

He was addressing the press meet at his office here on Monday, October 17.

Chandra Shekar said that the accused were identified as Sudhindra H K (33) alias Sudhindra alias Sushindra from Bejai Kapikad, Chidananda (33) from Yekkar villager, Suraj Kumar (35) from Yekkar Permude, Suresh Kumar M(40) from Adyanadka, Punacha village Bantwal and Sadashiva Shetty(49) from Yekkar.

Police have confiscated Rs 4, 25,000 cash and a pendent of 3.910 gram gold, pendent with image of goddess Durgaparameshwari, 5 mobile phones and a car.

It is said that prime accused Sudhindra HK is involved in real estate business and had taken a loan and to repay the amount, he committed this offence.

Sensational case

Police commissioner also said that this incident was very sensational incident as it had created tension and fear in the society. Four teams were formed to nab the accused and teams are still working to arrest other accused who had executed the act of robbery.

Sudhindra and others plotted the offence by providing the information but accused Lizo and 6 others executed the robbery and are absconding. Police department has the details about the absconding accused and teams are working on in apprehending them. .
It is also learnt that accused Suresh Kumar was working as PRO for Kateel Temple and he is a government employee.

Police managed to nab the accused with help of forensic and technical expertise. DCPs, ACP Rajendra, Bajpe police inspector Nagaraj TD, CCB Inspector Sunil Nayak and other staffs arrested the accused.

Derogatory comments in Facebook

With regard to the case of derogatory comments on Kateel goddess on Facebook, police have arrested one accused and police department is waiting for the court order to take further steps as the Facebook authority was not providing necessary information.
