Bantwal, Oct 18: A country bomb kept by miscreants for hunting wild animals exploded and killed a cow here.

A-four-year old cow, belonging to Radhakrishna Moolya from Chellangaru, used to go to the hills every day for grazing. As the cow did not return even after evening, on Monday, Radhakrishna and his mother Appi went to the hill and searched for the cow. They saw their cow below a tree with its face ruptured.

The family members lifted the cow, brought it home and tried to administer medicine. The neck and the face of the cow were burnt and it died due to severe loss of blood on Tuesday October 18.

Vittal police station assistant sub inspector Ananda Poojary, staff Ramachandra, Ramesh, Jayakumar, Pravin Rai and others visited the place. Adyanadka veterinary doctor Parameshwar Naika conducted postmortem and sent some of the parts of the cow to the laboratory for investigation.

Vittal Bhajrang Dal leader Jayanth C H, CITU leader Ramanna Vitla and others visited the house and consoled them. They urged for legal action against the guilty and suitable compensation.

These types of small crude bombs are kept to trap wild bores in villages, where there is no human movement...
usually its kept after dark and removed by early morning. its dangerous because even if other animals of humans step on it by mistake can be exploded.
we did lose our brave dog in such type of incident kept by our neighbors which subsequently they denied it after the blast.

I do not think that you have any experience of a village life by people and their herds. Usually, the cattle is allowed to gaze in their own property in the hills (properly coveredwith fence) and not in the paddy fields or dry fields of others.
In the towns we may come across stray animals move around in the streets and market places.

Cow wild animals whatever. How insensitive people can be. Blowing these animals using crude bombs. Where is the humanity gone.BTW I am appalled by the number of sarcastic comments that I come across. Circasism is nothing but a negative vibe which affects human beings.

Things which happened accidently is not fall in the purview of 'crime'.
When with some intention do illegal cattle trafficking to hurt sentiments of other's is all time crime.
Bantwal after all safe havan for miscreants...as person always in 'deep sleep'...even during inauguration.

Foremost, hunting wild animals is an offence. The bomb was not placed by miscreants but purposeful, local hunters.

If this incident had not taken place, nobody would have known about this illegal activity. The very people who came to console the cow owner, never ever bothered to report the illegal activity. Why ?

Hunted meat is generally shared with people of neighbourhood. Probably, Radhakrishna Moolya too may have received his share. Why this saintly display now ?

    Ummer,

This bomb was laid for wild animals (I agree its illegal to hunt) and the victim is a domestic animal. But several bombs are laid in human habitats and people get killed. Expect the same reaction when such incidents happen.
