Beltangady: Haunted by study, addiction blues, youth commits suicide

Beltangady, Oct 20: A youth committed suicide at Ujire in the taluk on Wednesday, October 19. He has been identified as Pareekshit (20), son of K C Pushparaj, resident of Prahlad Nagar Ujire.

Pareekshit was a diploma student. It is said that he had failed to clear several subjects. He also was bogged down by addictions. At the same time, he was nurturing the dream of living independently.

Pareekshit's father works for a bank, while mother happens to be a teacher. In the report filed with the police, the family said  Pareekshit did not heed the advice of family members.

Nachiket, the younger brother of Pareekshit, went to check why his elder brother had not come out for food. He found that Pareekshit had committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his room. A case of the suicide was registered in the town police station here.
