Beltangady: Insane cat goes wild - bites, injures eight

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Oct 21: Eight persons living around Maddadka in the taluk suffered injuries of varying degrees after a mad cat went around attacking people.

The cat which suddenly appeared in an area near Maddadka on Wednesday evening looked strange as its colour was a mixture of white, black and  green, with stripes looking like yellow pictures.

Without any provocation, the cat bit a person. Then in a burst of activity, it went on a biting spree and injured seven more people. Some of the wounded got treatment in a private hospital at Guruvayanakere while some others went to the government hospital in the town.  The doctors said that bites by mad cats are very rare as compared to attacks by mad dogs.

A search was launched for the cat in question later. It was found and killed by villagers after that.
