Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Oct 21: Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh condemned the assault on the principal of Milagres College by a student on Thursday, October 20.

Addressing the press meet in city on Friday October 21, Anil Lobo, president of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R), condemning the incident said "Attack on a college principle is a black mark in the history of coastal region. Police department should arrest the accused within three days. Otherwise we will shut down the educational institutions in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod districts.”

Catholic Sabha also demanded stern action against the accused.

It was also revealed in the press meet that several days ago the accused had behaved aggressively and had torn the attendance register. He was also suspended for showing bad conduct in college. There are several complaints against the student and his academic performance was not even satisfactory.

Catholic Sabha leaders Godwin Pinto, Lancy D’Cunha, president of Milagres College student union Melita Pais, president of PTA committee Milagres Degree College Ronald Pinto, president of ICYMC Mangaluru Jackson Herick D' Costa, Sheldon Crasta and others were present.

we cant come to conclusions by hearing at one side alone. obviously student has done mistake should be brought before law. What he has done could be seen clearly on cc tv footage. I must say my personnel experience - today’s priest who are holding principal’s post, most of them are arrogant and inexperienced for administration. Only because you are priest background you are eligible for administrate the collate or school , if you are priest then you can be principal or director. hardly one can find priest are taking any classes. You don’t get to see teacher student relation between them. What is happened its really sad.

The forgiveness is for the people who have innocently committed the crime/sin and not for arrogant bullies. They need to be isolated from the society and rehabilitated in the jail. If this student go unpunished, then there will be a bigger problem in the future for the educational institutions in Mangalore which have gained national level reputation for education and discipline. The silence of particular community over this issue bothers me a lot. The same silence of good people over the terrorist activities leads us to a stereotype.

Religion aside, assaulting a teacher is a big crime. It is a ethic and moral issue for all the students. Police shouldn't show incompetence in this case. What will happen, if someone assault the Police Chief. They would have burnt the entire village. I don't understand why the lethargic attitudes by the police in catching him. If you can't catch him, let us know we will catch him and bring him to justice.

In my opinion, considering his history (aggressive) forgive him, counsel him, keep him under surveillance and he should get lots of love and support from school authorities and parents. In this way, we may avoid one grooming criminal. Tolerance was very less with this boy.....times are changing.

Sad to know this student had the courage to assault his "GURU'.That means he has very bad history of misbehaving with his parents too.I am sure Rev.Fr.Might have forgiven but this act need to condemn but not the person.Even then if he is not changing his way of life i think even God cannot change such hard heartened person. Dear father, Recently a priest attacked a little boy during catechism class. What is your reaction on this? Yes this act should be condemned. But why we are silent when child or student get attacked? Secondly, by organising protests what is the specific message we are trying to convey? This is not an act from a group. Its individual act. Even sometimes son attacks father or mother. So son should be funished. Lets ask ourselves, if christian boy attacked priest what would have been our reaction? Let the police arrest the person and let the law take its course.

In my opinion, this incident took place due to the carelessness of that particular guys parents. Why I say this because, in Milagres College there is a facility, whenever a student remains absent, immediately a message is sent to their parents mobile phone. This is mainly to inform thier parents and his parents were least bothered.

Because of Ashoka Indian meat eaters are cursing him.

God gave Moses manna and Quail as food from heaven.

Therefore what God has permitted for humans man should not prohibit.

This incidence can not be considered just as an assault on Principal by a student.
There is already one group seriously batting for the student.
Here a student dare to assault a Principal, that too Father just because he is backed up by Muslim students union the CFI, a radical shadow outfit of banned groups.
Ruling Congress party should come forward and condemn this incidence and pave way for the arrest of the student.

You are always one step ahead to give religious color to any incident. You never miss an opportunity. Never drag entire community for one boy's mistake. Don't worry, you can not instigate us Christians to condemn whole community here. We always of the opinion that no religion teaches violence and no religion is bad. 'Thawa garam hai, roti seko' policy will not work with us. We are peace loving, forgiving community.

Vengeance or retaliation is the cry. You cannot change the world with retaliation. The action of the student is to be denounced but the student can not be denounced. A distinction between the student and his action should be made. While his action is condemnable the youngman needs to be brought into his senses, made aware what he did was wrong through counselling and care. It is easy to give up one for the mistakes one has made. It is easy to go for retaliation and put the person behind bars. Is there someone around who could work with the student, make him to apologise and bring him to the right path? While it is sad that the student was allowed to go to this extent in spite of earlier actions it is equally regrettable that we are asking for his arrest now. It is better to reform the person and offer him another life than condemn him forever

The primary objective of schools and colleges is to impart good education to all students irrespective of caste and creed.

The aims and objectives of all students should be to gather as much of knowledge as possible and turn out to be responsible citizens of India. To achieve this an important aspect is DISCIPLINE.

An assault on on any one is wrong and more so on a principal. Hope the student will repent and turn over a new leaf. In the meantime the authorities will have have recourse to action as LAW AND ORDER will determine
