Udupi, Oct 23: Dalita Damanitara Swabhimana Horata Samiti, the organisers of ‘Swabhimana Nadige’ on Sunday October 23, submitted a petition to superintendent of police (SP) K T Balakrishna and said strict action should be taken against Yuva Brigade, the organisers of ‘Kanaka Nade’

A team led by Shyamraj Birthi, Jayan Malpe and Sundar Master met SP and said that ‘Kanaka Nade’ programme defied the order of the district administration which had clearly said that ‘Kanaka Nade’ cannot be held outside the Math premises.

Shyamraj Birthi said “They conducted ‘Kanaka Nade’ in parking slot, Rajangana and some other places which are not part of the Math premises. So strict action should be taken against them for going against the order of deputy commissioner (DC). It also should be noted that cleaning drive was against Dalits.”

SP promised them that he would look into the matter. He said every movement of the ‘Kanaka Nade’ was video recorded and the police will analyze the recordings.

Dalita Damanitara Swabhimana Horata Samiti will also meet the DC on Monday, the members revealed.

Birthi also said that Vishweshateertha Swamiji was not right to inaugurate Kanaka Nade as it was anti-dalit movement.

‘Kanaka Nade’ and ‘Swabhimana Nadige’ two opposite programmes were scheduled for Sunday, October 23. The district administration had denied permissions for both. While ‘Swabhimana Nadige’ organisers postponed their programme, ‘Kanaka Nade’ programme was held with modifications in the places of the drive.

I support Swabhimana Horata Samiti in their fight for equality, social justice.

They are spearheading a movement to fight against injustice meted out by upper caste.

Dear Bro Melwyn, I think you too flowing with the water without understanding the what is unform cibvil code. in nut shell we have 80% law's unfied for all the sects religion and cast ( criminal law's,civil laws, contract acts, taxation laws and list goes on) and considering the diversity only 20% of personal laws has been left based on religious customs like marriage, divorce and property distribution etc under Hindu marriage acts, muslim personal law and so many other laws/acts to govern the tribal customs and rituals. Again if somebody differs from such law still he has option to proceed with 'special marriage act' which is common for all and being a muslim if I dont want to be governed under muslim personal law I can get relief under special marriage act. The problem here is some muslim women wants be under muslim personal law and they want the laws under muslim law shall be changed to their taste. if he or she is not interested in such personal law then why he or she stringent to change the personal law and present gov is trying to intervene as it directly matters to the muslim. hope your confusion is clear.

every religion/caste/groups are having their own tradition/culture/celebrations. coming to the point of udupi math, they are also following some tradition. but they never denied the food to any caste people & providing it without considering caste/religion. i am replying to N.M. for his view point of equality & justice. without knowing the point we should not comment. there is a objection from every religion/caste/group for some tradition. if we consider that (as per above subject)then we require uniform civil code.

I’m bit confused about so called ‘Dalit Swabhimani Hoorata Samithi’s’ to complaint. What is wrong if someone’s interest to clean the city ! it’s good and we all should appreciate their efforts. Why Dalit leaders are worried about this ? I think, Dalits are bit worried that they might loose their job ??? and their reservation quota too…

Mr. Shetty, They are worried bcz the moto of the programme was to clean udupi bcz Dalits walked on the streets of udupi and street become dirty ( for more info look in to sollibele's FB post), The places they have cleaned is daily cleaned by municipal workers and what's the point in cleaning again. One more point to be noted is they have denied the permission and they said they will do symbolic cleaning within the mutt premise and they have defied the DC's order ( sangh parivar never cares law and order and this not a new case). Hope your confusion is clear by now.

Thanks for clearing confusion. Instead of saying the street became dirty by dalits walking on it, if you were to say "the street was made unworthy for upper caste to walk on that" would have been more appropriate.

Yuva brigade is the new avtar of NAMO after it dissolved.

It is one of the organisation helped PM Modi's publicity campaign in 2014 election whose founder is Naresh Shenoy accused in RTI activist Vinayak Baliga murder.

Law enforcement will never touch them. They will face the same fate which Dalit faced in Gujarat recent days.

Even is hijacked by Sangh Parivar with all the blessing of mutt.

    SMR,
Mark Twain said,"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt".

Namo brigade was renamed as Yuva brigade after Modi's spectacular win 2014 elections. Chakravarthi Sulibele was the founder of Namo Brigade.
Naresh Shenoy was an active member of this group.

What are you confused of??? Both Kanaka Nade and Swabhimana Horata Samiti are flexing their muscles...DC should allow them to fight it out in Ajjarkad maidaan...

Whoever wins should be awarded Pili Sorry 'Puli Kesari' award by swamiji....

This DC does not allow them to show their talent and prowess....Do you have any problems with this Sir???...
