Mangaluru, Oct 24: The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Ujire Ashok Bhat relating to an attack against him which had occurred two years back at Panambur here. Bhat happens to be a Yakshagana artiste.

Bhat had participated in a Yakshagana Talamaddale programme held at Panambur two years back. When the programme was in progress, some people had attacked him. Relating to this incident, Ashok Bhat had filed police complaint. Thereafter, he filed another complaint, duly adding the names of Raghavendra and Aravind Holla therein as accused. First information report was accordingly registered.

Raghavendra and Aravind Holla had thereafter appealed to the High Court, requesting it to drop their names from the charge sheet relating to the case. They claimed that their names were included in the second complaint with the specific purpose of harassing them. The High Court, which upheld this application, not only ordered for deletion of their names from the charge sheet, but also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Panambur station house officer, who had filed the charge sheet.

Ashok Bhat had approached the Supreme Court against the High Court order. The Supreme Court, which took up his appeal, dismissed it.
