Udupi, Oct 25: BJP city unit here, which held an executive meeting on Tuesday October 25, has decided to protest with black flags when chief minister Siddaramaiah will be visiting city this weekend.

Siddaramaiah is scheduled to visit city on Sunday October 30 to lay foundation stone for the new proposed 400-bed hospital to be built at the present government owned women and children hospital. The hospital will be built and managed under private ownership.

The city BJP unit has decided to oppose the privatisation of hospital and hence has come to the decision of protesting with black flags.

District BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde and former MLA Raghupati Bhat also attended the meeting.

Jobless is the CM. Otherwise, why the only hospital meant for poor to be privatized?

When backfires, Congress says the process started during BJP regime.

I think BJP is loser. People understand and deserve better facilities through all means such as government, private or joint sector. We are no where near the medical facilities provided by gulf countries in-terms of quality, dedication. The big people who are opposing private partners fly to foreign countries to avail the medical facility for self/kith and kin at public money.

Udupi is facing shortage of well equipped hospital. KMC, Manipal the only hospital which cater to needs of Udupi and nearby districts is overloaded and patients have to wait even in critical conditions.
The present Government hospital in Udupi has not come up to the quality level nor does have comprehensive facilities.
Hence there is a very urgent requirement of another comprehensive hospital in Udupi.
If Government has joined hands with the group who has long experience in healthcare in gulf to set up a comprehensive hospital it should be welcomed.

It is the work of opposite parties to protest against ruling party? otherwise what is the use of opposite parties? Being an opposite party they can not support ruling party but oppose it keeping in mind next election and public opinion.

J Anata, Have U ever visited Udupi to see the pathetic condition of the present Government owned Hospital in Udupi. Mr B.R. Shetty [to whom I know personally from 1980 onwards from Abu Dhabi] has agreed to invest his own money to build a new hospital. My several times conversation with Mr.B.R. Shetty who is originally hailing from our Kapu, Udupi District has a lot of interest to develop our Udupi District. U as a BJP supporter can U explain to us Shoba after winning as a MP from our District what her contribution to develop our area for the MP funds of RS.5[five] crores she is drawing yearly except supporting Yeddy all the time? Do we need such MPs to serve us?
