Mangaluru: Head-on collision of two bikes near Kinnigoli, one dies

Mangaluru, Oct 26: In a head-on collision between two bikes at Panjinadka near Kinnigoli, one rider died on Tuesday, October 25.

Ilyas (42) from Angaragudde is the person deceased. Another rider Rakshith Shetty (30) from Shimanthur has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru with injuries.

Ilyas was coming in his bike from his relative’s house in Moodbidri towards Angaragudde. Rakshith was going to work at Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru. The bikes hit each other head-on in front of Shimanthur School. Both fell down on the road as a result, in pool of blood due to injuries.

People, who heard the sound of accident, came and tried to help both the victims. But Ilyas could not reach the hospital as he succumbed to injuries on the way.

Ilyas was dealing with garments and a bread winner for the family with wife and three children. The cries of the family members could be witnessed at government hospital where the body was kept for post-mortem. Ilyas was busy in helping a person from family whose marriage is scheduled for Thursday.

Rakshith has serious injuries to legs and eyes and he is in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Mangaluru North traffic police have registered a case.

    It is not stated in the report whether Ilyas and Raksheth were wearing helmets.

    Death in the case of one and serious injuries in the case of the other are perhaps caused by the riders not wearing helmets. As per traffic rules it is mandatory for two wheeler riders to wear helmets. It is expedient that this rule is strictly observed and defaulters heavily fined.

    Still people buy 2 wheelers, knowing quite well, risk of death, even if you are extremely careful, while riding.

    Very sad incident. In three days four dead. To whom you blame. All accidents no one wearing helmets. Injury from accident less but one head hits road or footpath more internal injuries will be there. Using mobile on driving big concerns. Now only family will suffer. Our people never learn lessons from accident

    Riding Two wheelers are inherently dangerous. So one should remember that when riding bike or allowing your loved once to riding the bike you understand the risks involved.

    This is the third day consecutively we hear two wheeler accident and decease. Underage, Adult and Bread winner. No blames but feelings. If roads are not proper pls don’t ride but use public transport. Life is more important than anything. Family is waiting for our safe return at home. Don't use the helmet for the sake of police fine but use it for safety reason. RIP.

    Very sad... interior roads around Kinnigoli are very fatal, with sudden narrow curves. may god bless the departed soul and give immense strength to the family to overcome this loss RIP. pray the god for speedy recovery of the injured.

    Bikes are not meant for mangalore roads. Very dangerous to ply as having curved roads in each and every corner. When bikes collided each other..how you save yourselves from heavy vehicles are on high speed. Very sad what happened...family members totally depended upon him. When things go fatal in life...nobody knows.

    Not only in Mangalore but in entire India.We are losing countless young lives .We learnt the technology from Japan but we are not following their road and safety systems.There are so many road accidents that we tend to forget tragedies in one or two days.
