Bahrain to Expel Illegal Workers

Agency report

Manama, Jan 3: Bahrain passes a law which compels illegal foreign workers to clarify their residence status or leave the country within a month.

Bahrain's Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs warned illegal foreign workers of this development last July when they were given five months to straighten out their legal position.

Since then more than 11 thousand illegal workers have left Bahrain, IRNA reported.

Currently there are over 250 thousand foreign workers in Bahrain most of whom come from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
