Mangaluru: 2-day seminar on protection of children from sexual crimes inaugurated

Mangaluru, Oct 26: The 6th additional district and sessions judge D T Puttarangaswamy inaugurated the state level 2-day seminar on implementation and challenges of 'Protection of children from sexual crimes act-2012' at the ISD hall of CODP, Padua in city on Wednesday October 26, by cutting the stalls of models from the various departments involved in the implementation.



Speaking on the occasion the judge said, "Punishment is not the only solution while handling sexual assault cases. We have to think about the root cause of the problem and find an overall solution. There is no point blaming only the accused or any concerned department. We must also see how our children are growing up."

"In many cases, compensation to the victims is not disbursed even though there are sufficient funds. The concerned officials must work in this regard to see that compensation is rightly meted out." added the judge.

“Today, every act has pros and cons. The present officials must create awareness on society about children's rights," he emphasised.

The president of the state children's rights commission Kripa Amar Alva, DCP (law and order), Shantharaju, secretary of district legal services authority Mallanna Gowda were among the others present at the occasion.

    Our children are to be responsible citizens in the years to follow. Very often these poor children are misled by unscrupulous people for their own ends. While making every attempt to protect the children the focus should be on the people who indulge in misleading the children and they should be severely dealt with. After protecting the children what????. These children should be put in the hands of good Councillors for REFORMATION AND GUIDANCE.

    PARENTS SHOULD EDUCATE THEIR CHILDREN ON HOW TO IDENTIFY AND REACT TO INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL ADVANCES FROM WITHIN THE FAMILY AS WELL AS FROM OUTSIDE. THIS WILL GO A LONG WAY IN PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN AGAINST SEXUAL CRIMES. CHILDREN SHOULD BE EDUCATED AS IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS ANY MORE.

    Welcome and appreciate such progressive measures being established for a good social cause.Protecting children from sexual predators is of prime importance.Parents of the present generation understand the need to love,care and treat their children with dignity and understanding to develop the bond of faith and trust.Parents do inculcate good moral values only by being good to one another as spouses.
