Kuwait: Gulf Baila Naach Competition - Prelims on Nov 18

Kuwait, Oct 26: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Doha, Qatar is completing its Silver Jubilee next year and plans to organize a unique event to mark the celebrations on April 28 in 2017.

The committee has come up with organizing a Baila Dance competition for all Mangalurean Konkani Catholics residing in GCC countries namely – Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar.

For the Kuwait leg of this competition, MCC has chosen Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) to find the talented dancing couple who will go to represent the country in the finale.

The concept is to have a preliminary round of Baila Dance competition. This will be held during the Talent Competition which will take place on November 18.

The winners from the preliminary round will then go on to compete in the semi-finals during KCWA’s mega cultural program on January 13 in 2017. The winning couple will then represent Kuwait at the grand finale in Doha on April 28 in 2017.

General Rules:

1) The Competition is open to all Mangalorean Konkani Catholic Dancers residing in GCC countries ‐ Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar.

2) The contestant should be Eighteen (18) years of age on or before the Preliminary round of the competition.

3) Participants must be Mangalorean couple and they should have valid GCC residence visa.

4) Visit visa holders are not eligible for the competition.

5) There should be One Boy and One Girl. The couple need not to be necessarily married couple.

6) The dance should be based on Baila beats only.

7) The decision of the Jury will be final and incontestable.

Preliminary Round Rules:

1) The time limit for the song is minimum 3 minutes and maximum of 5 minutes.

2) The competition is dedicated to Konkani Songs chosen only from the released Mangalorean albums (DVD/CD/Cassette), medley of songs (adding one or more song) is allowed, but the song duration should not exceed more than 5 minutes.

3) A draw will be taken prior to the competition to determine order of the contestants’ participation in the competition.

4) Soundtracks or songs should be submitted to KCWA Gulf Baila Naach Coordinators by email and that should be in MP3 format.
