Dubai: Thumbay Hospitals launch breast cancer awareness drive

Dubai, Oct 27: Spreading awareness and extending support to those who battle against breast cancer, hundreds of taxis clustered at the Thumbay Hospitals across Dubai, Ajman and Fujairah forming unique giant pink ribbons on Wednesday October 26.

The Pink Drive Campaign, which is being conducted across all Thumbay Hospitals (Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah and Sharjah) and Thumbay Clinics (Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain) in the UAE, carries the message of hope to all the survivors, aims to raise awareness on breast cancer that is UAE’s second biggest killer of women after cardiovascular disease. The campaign is supported by Cars Taxi, Dubai Police, Friends of Cancer Patients and Pink Caravan.

Speaking on the initiative, Thumbay Moideen, founder president, Thumbay Group, said: “It is our strong belief that Thumbay Group has a great social responsibility, and over the years we have acted accordingly by supporting social and humanitarian causes. Survival of breast cancer patients is increasing with each passing day due to the awareness created on the subject. Through this initiative, we are here to encourage women to get themselves screened, outline the importance of mammogram, raise support for sufferers and make the nation fit.”

In addition, Akbar Moideen, vice president healthcare division at Thumbay Hospitals said, “We are coming up with new and innovative methods to reach out to women and make them pause and reflect about the threat and the possibility of developing breast cancer. We would like to thank all the women drivers, participating in this drive, for spreading the word on preventive measures.”

Abdulla Sultan Al Sabbagh, CEO of Cars Taxi Group was the chief guest at the event.
