Mangaluru, Oct 27:"Uniform civil code is divisive which has political agenda and will lead to social unrest," said K S Masood, president of Muslim central committee of Dakshina Kannada district.

Addressing the media persons here on Thursday October 27, Masood said "Recently the central government has submitted affidavit to the Supreme Court against the triple talaq mentioned in shariyat law. It is against the spirit of the Indian constitution, which safeguards the right of citizens to practice their culture and religion. Uniform Civil Code is not good for this nation. There are many cultures in this nation and they have to be respected."

“The constitution gives the right of religious practice according to their religion. We strongly oppose the interference of government in our religious maters. In the name of triple talaq, they are playing political game. We respect the Indian law and constitution. The constitution itself gives us right to practice our religion. We will not allow anyone to curtail our freedom to practice with the political motive." he concluded.

Ibrahim Kodijal, vice president of the committee, B A Mohammed Haneef, Beary Academy president and others were present.

    Their was No India before 1947. Dominion of India was created with many Cultures, Religions, Regions and powerful muslim states like Hyderabad, British inherited Glorious Mogul empire with promise of secular, minority inclusive constitution. Uniform Civil code will disintegrate India in to many uncontrollable, regional states. India need compromise and tolerance between it's hundreds of ethnic groups and all grate religions to prevent disintegration of the British created India.

    Uniform civil rights and women empowerment is need of the hour.

    In a nation every 10 minutes one woman is being abused.We have law of discrimination in terms of reservation.

    There are more widows created from the communal violence than Triple Talaq.

    If UCC is the answer why do we need reservation?Why we have casteism is still prevalent in our society?

    Let's have all appointments on talent based.Stricter punishment for communal violence which live thousands of orphans and widows?

    Is UCC will give justice or let go saying 'Juvenile'?

    India is a country of multi linguistic and multicultural and multi religious society living in peace since decades.

    Government can't impose a law without the understanding of holy books of every religion.

    UCC is nothing but violation of Article 25.

    Dirty Politics.There were only a couple of stray incidents where the triple talaq took place and the victim were comforted and taken care off by the members in authority among the Muslim community.Why should anyone from another religion interfere in their FAITH and the Sharia Law which is their constitutional right. Without having the knowledge or knowing the basics how can any non-Muslim comment about triple talaq with mere,uncorroborated news. Sure in their wisdom they will deliberate with the courts and have the situation under control

    First strengthen existing British era Civil & Criminal codes. Reform judiciary with enough Courts and personal to handle present case Loads. Bring meaning to Law by providing time bound equal justice to all persons by making courts and Lawyers affordable to poor and marginalized Citizens with free and just public defenders system. Show the people that the Law & Justice work for all Citizens. AFTER THAT ONLY THINK ABOUT UNIFORM CIVIL CODE OR CHANGING THE CONSTITUTION OR TAKING AWAY MINORITY RIGHTS GUARANTEED BY THE CONSTITUTION.

    I don't know exactly what are the points included in Uniform Civil Code, may be some matters may hurts the religious sentiments. But No one will tolerate and no one will accept the Triple talaq in one go, if it affected to their own daughters & sisters. Regarding polygamy, no single Indian muslim woman want their husband to marry another woman when she is alive. I have seen many cases around, the muslim men were beaten or lynched by their (first) wife's parents in Triple Talaq and second marriage issues. That means, those who have the muscle power only can stop this and others cannot. We are all opposing Modi govt's policy in all matters fine. But my request to the Muslim clerics and leaders, please allow the govt to bring the law against both Triple talaq & polygamy. If anybody have no muscle power to oppose when their own girls faces such a problem, at least let them get the justice from the courts. Everybody struggling mentally and financially to get their sisters and daughters get married, but after some times if this girls became the victims of Triple talaq or Polygamy, we all knows how the girl and her parents will suffer for life long. Consider this and fight for the women justice.

    we know that devadasi is not a good one. so govt banned that practice. people also supported govt decision bcoz they don't want misuse of their sister/mother. accordingly polygamy should be banned & UCC implemented.

    Why not demand a separate code for the males from the community. Women from your community are asking for their constitutional Rights under the Indian Constitution and not want sharia law. Now you all lost support of (85 7%) of the Indian population because you have not respected them till now. Just used them as slaves, right?

    Indirectly these people are interested in multiple marriage. In turns spoils the life of Islam girls/ladies. Govt is not stopping you to take divorce from court or second marriage in case of death of first wife.

    People having different cultures already having uniform civil code. So what way u say UCC is divisive? Freedom of religion enshrined in constitution is different from having UCC. Moreover you cant pick n chose what is suiting u. Why not criminal law as per religion?

    There could be so many allowed and disallowed issues in Quran but in a civilised democracy all those can not be implemented. Law is same to all communities, religions etc. that includes men and women. There can not be two laws for same issue.
