Belagavi: Constable Yellappa, brother of DYSP Kallappa Handibag ends life

Belagavi, Oct 28: Yellappa Handibag, brother of then Chikkamagaluru DySP Kallappa Handibag, committed suicide by hanging on Thursday, October 27.

Yellappa (28) was a police constable at Kulagod police station in Gokak taluk.

Yellappa ended his life by hanging at his house in Kulagod.

Yellappa, who was on duty at the three-day Kittur Utsav, returned home and hanged himself from the ceiling when no one was present at home. The reason for the suicide is not known but sources said he was depressed after his brother’s death and would always talk about it. He also carried his brother' photo with him and would cry after seeing it.

Kallappa had committed suicide at his in-laws’ house at Raibag taluk on July 4 after he was suspended over his alleged involvement in a kidnap case registered in Chikkamagaluru.

Gokak DySP Veerabhadraiah and superintendent of police Ravikantegowda visited Yellappa’s house.

Kulagod police have registered a case and are investigating.

    very very sad.Family have to swallow now two Family members suicide death within short time.I am sure he was very near to his brother and was depressed .He too had duty for three days that must have made him away from Family and lonely.In such cases Police dept .must see that the psychological help is Extended to them when one is undergone suicide.What a loss to Family,whatever the reason is.May his Soul rest in peace and heartfelt sympathy to his Family.

    May be some politicians came to know that he was aware why his brother committed suicide or made to commit that act....
    They can not leave lose ends....

    A person commits suicide and the only reason known is that he is emotionally attached to his dead brother. there is no other accusation against this man.

    And you have a big heart to take a poke on such sad incident? what a shame.
