Mangaluru: Bike rider waylaid, robbed of possessions

Mangaluru, Oct 28: A four-member gang waylaid a motorbike rider who was going back home at the end of the day at Parari near Vamanjur and robbed him of his possessions. The incident happened on the night of Wednesday, October 26.

Dayanand, who owns and operates trucks and also works as a driver, had accepted a load of coal at Bykampady for being transported to Gulbarga. After dispatching the truck with another driver on the night of Wednesday, he was returning home in his motorbike when he was robbed.

A gang of four, membres of which had covered their faces with masks, intercepted him. The gang had come in a white colour Tata Sumo vehicle. The interceptors not only assaulted and kicked him around but also forcibly snatched away a cell phone, Rs 9,000 in cash, registration certificate of the bike, two registration certificates of his trucks, ATM card of different banks, cheque books and PAN card which were found with him.

A complaint in this connection was lodged in the rural police station here. An investigation has been taken up.
