Mangaluru: Ayush department observes National Ayurveda Day in city

Mangaluru, Oct 29: National Ayurveda day was observed by Ayush department here at Town Hall on Friday October 28.

Prior to the stage programme, a procession was carried out from Bunts Hostel to Town Hall. Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo flagged off the procession.

J R Lobo said, “It is very important to think about health. One of the easily available forms of medicine is Allopathy. But the traditional form of medicine is Ayurveda. Today preventing disease is very crucial. Ayurveda is the way of life which helps in preventing diseases. Younger generation should take interest in this medicine. Let everyone benefit from this.”

District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the stage programme by lighting the lamp.

In his inaugural address, Rai said, “Today people have got lots of confidence in Ayurveda medicines. Ayurveda has got cure for many diseases. I believe that exercise and yoga can treat many diseases thus I exercise for two hours every day without fail. Being a forest minister we have undertaken construction of parks which comprises of medicinal plants. Lifestyle can prevent many diseases. So I urge each and everyone to change their lifestyles for healthy body and mind.”

ZP president Meenakshi Shanthigoud, district health officer, Ramakrishna Rao and others were present.

    Ayush has the rich, centuries-old knowledge/means to provide affordable, safe treatment/cure for many of today's diseases.

    Hope it is popularised and made available in as many hospitals as possible.
