Belthangady, Oct 29: Retired air force official Surendra handed over the uniform and other belongings of Ekanath Shetty to his wife Jayanthi on Friday, October 28.

Ekanath Shetty, a Defence Service Corps (DSC) soldier from Guruvayanakere, was in the transport plane of the Indian Air Force that went missing on July 22 while flying from Chennai to Port Blair with 29 people on board. The aero plane was never traced and it was concluded that all the people on board are dead.

District SP Bhushan G Borase and Puttur assistant commissioner Dr Rajendra were present during the handing over of belongings.

Chief minister’s parliamentary secretary Shakuntala Shetty, block Congress president Harish Kumar, former MLA K Prabhakar Bangera, Taluk BJP president Ranjan G Gowda, Zilla panchayat members Soumyalatha Jayanth Gowda, M B Pinto, Victor Crasta, Pushparaj Shetty and others were also present.

Sathish Shetty, brother in law of Ekanath Shetty said “All are sympathizing with us which gives us a feeling that the entire country is with us.”

    Its been 3 months and sadly our Defence Ministry and Media is SILENT about the missing plane.

    what kind of a "powerful" force do we have when we cannot trace our missing troops?

    Its very sad to see this kind of situation, where the family even if not wanting to accept is forced to accept the fact as there are no clues to what happened to the ill fated airplane. I pray in god to rest the soul in peace if our soldiers have really dead.
