Mangaluru: Students celebrate Deepavali with traditional fervour

Mangaluru, Oct 22: Deepavali, the festival of lights was celebrated with much joy and fervour in city. Students participated in celebrations in their respective colleges on Friday, October 29. Most of the students leave for their homes on Saturday.

Karavali Institute of Technology which is known for grand celebration of Deepavali also was in the forefront this year with lecturers and students coming together to exchange greetings and rejoice with various programmes.

Girls dressed in traditional attires welcomed everyone by lighting the traditional ‘diyas’ and later fire crackers were burst. The night sky lit up in myriad colours of fireworks.

    I want to see same unity of Muslim, Hindu and Christen brothers and sisters in Ramadan and Bakri Idd and Christmas festivals in each and every college without any partiality.

    Kudos to Karavali Institute of Technology for organizing this Diwali day, a festival of lights. The women students did a great job with the lighting of lamps.     On this festive occasion, here's wishing each one of our Hindu brethren a happy and prosperous Deepawali. May the Transcendent Light illumine your hearts, homes and communities. May all your celebrations deepen the sense of belonging to one another in your families and neighbourhoods.

    As this festival of lights signifies victory of good over evil, let us all join together and pray to the Omnipotent God to protect our motherland from the threats of our neighbour countries, especially Pakistan- a thorn in our flesh. Let us all- Christians, Hindus, Muslims and other religions remain united and strive hard to live in peace and social harmony, as we all belong to one huge family. This is my most humble appeal/message to all.
