Mangaluru: Family attacked with petrol bomb, role of ganja mafia suspected

Mangaluru, Oct 29: A family was attacked with petrol bomb on the night of Friday, October 28 at Bastipadpi within Ullal police station limits near here.

Tharanath Yadav Panjikodi (58) is the person injured in the incident. He has been admitted to the hospital in Thokkottu with burn injuries on his left hand. His wife Vidya (45) and Mithun (10) are safe.

The miscreants threw petrol bombs through the ventilator around midnight. As Tharanath acted without any delay, his wife and son were saved. Damage to the house was also averted.

Tharanath is well known in the area for his social work and also for his anti ganja mafia stance. Role of mafia is suspected in the incident.

Tharanath is also a personal friend of food supplies minister U T Khader. Khader, upon hearing the news, rushed to the hospital to meet Tharanath. Khader later said that he has asked the police to take action against the miscreants at the soonest.

Ullal police have registered a case.

    There are many men in khaki in Ullal police station acting as well wisher of ganga peddler and some business man also giving support to these drug addict in return for their business interest.Locals aware of that but department not acting against them.Khader have to do more than photo op.
