Mangaluru: White Doves home rehabilitates woman, reunites with family

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (JS)

Mangaluru, Oct 29: Life might not have changed much for most people in the past some months, but for Seema Singh (28) destiny played a favourable role when White Doves found her wandering around Bendoorwell and took her under their wing.

Approximately 6 months ago, Corrine, founder of White Doves, got a call informing her about the deteriorating state of a women wandering on the street near Bendoorwell and asking for help. When the White Doves team reached the place, they found her in a very unwell state, mentally disturbed with wounds on her head and body. They immediately rushed her to White Doves home at Matadakani and treated her later at KMC Hospital. Seema soon began to regain health.

When asked about her whereabouts, Seema revealed she is from Karmajithpur village of Uttar Pradesh (UP). She also gave details of her brother who lives in UP. With the help of the police, White Doves contacted her brother. He gave details of her husband who lives in Mumbai.

Thanks to White Doves, Seema has now reunited with her family. Seema's husband approached White Doves home and took her back. Seema has a daughter who is two years old.

Seema Singh - 6 months before

Speaking to Daijiworld.com, Seema Singh and her husband Shubash Singh expressed their gratitude to the White Doves home. Seema said, "I am happy that I have reunited

with my husband. I am looking forward to meeting my daughter. Madam (Corrine) is a very good person. They have taken very good care of me here. I urge the government to support madam in her good work."

White Doves is a non-governmental organization founded by Corrine Rasquinha. It provides shelter and cure for the mentally ill, ailing and destitute who are left abandoned on the streets and then reunites them with their families. Currently around 134 inmates have been given shelter at the White Doves home. So far, they have successfully united 90 plus inmates with their families hailing from Nepal, Bangladesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh etc.

White Doves team member Jerald D'Souza took on the responsibility of tracing Seema Singh's family.

Time and again, White Doves has taken on the initiative of providing a safe harbour to destitute. It has been a hope for people like Seema and her family who are ever grateful to them.

Corrine is a source of inspiration to Mangalore and the nation. What she does looks easy but is not, as she has no government support. She needs our strong support to keep going. Picking the destitute up from the streets and taking care of them is exactly what Mother Theresa was doing. Mother had congregation support. Corrine needs laity support. What the inmates need is maybe coconuts, vegetables - onions, tomatoes, garlic, chillies, spices, tamarind, fruits- papayas, bananas(including kandi), and the like that grows in your garden fish, chicken and not forgetting financial help to build a home for them. "Ful nazalyar Fulachi pakli".
"Whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren that you do unto me".
Let's start from now and send Jesus the best gift we can send on his birthday, which is to start helping from now.
I don't have to be their member to pen my thoughts. So don't get me wrong...

From the very start WHITE DOVES have indeed made a very valuable contribution to the society. Their prime objective is to help the poorest of the poor and some persons have joined them in their endeavors.

Presently one can see that WHITE DOVES have spread their wings wide to ensure that more people come under the protection of the wide spread wings.

Corine - indeed needs all possible support from well wishers. May Almighty God bless Corine and her wonderful work.

Hats off to you Madam and your team. Believe it or not, Whatever religion you belong to, whoever involved in this kind of similar work, cannot do with out the Grace of God.

There are a lot of organisations in Mangalore but hardly a few come forward to do the genuine social work.
