Bengaluru, Oct 30: Private schools in state have objected to the draft resolution of admission fees by the government. The school representatives have objected to making four groups including rural, taluk, town and City Corporation for school fees and have urged for fixing uniform fees in all the schools in the state.

Some of the school administrations have maintained that the government has no right to interfere in matters concerning school fees and urged the government to give them freedom to fix the fees.

Thousands of representatives of private schools under the aegis of Karnataka state private and high school management committees, who participated in a discussion programme on draft rules on school fees by the government, put forth their objections and opinions. Secretary of the committees, D Shashikumar said that government’s action to fix different rates of fees for different schools is unscientific.

As per the order of the court, the government is not entitled to interfere in matters concerning admission fees and other fees of private schools. However as the schools have agreed to be bound by government orders from time to time, they have to adhere to the fees prescribed by it.

The school representatives said that the government can take action after verifying the audit report and if found that the schools are charging more than what they spend on salaries and special facilities.
