M'luru: District level swimming championship held at Eden Club

Mangaluru, Oct 31: President of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Jeevan Saldanha inuagurated the district level swimming championship at Eden Sports and Aquatic Foundation, Padua on Sunday October 30.

Speaking on the occasion he said, "I want to address the young athletes present. Participation in sports and games forms the integral part of your development. In this competitive world, the enthusiam and sportsmanship one shows in sports will help to handle competitions and challenges in life. I thank Eden Club for organising this event and especially the sports co-ordinator Ivan Pinto who has been taking keen interest in organising this event continuously for many years.

The assistant director for sports and youth affairs of Dakshina Kannada, Pradeep D'Souza said that the government has brought various schemes for the betterment ofsportsmen. "Kreeda Sanjeevini scholarship has helped them perform better. There are various other schemes which have been introduced recently. The governmnt is contemplating bringing sportmen under the insurance scheme in the coming days. This huge particicpation is motivating," he said.

The sports co-ordinator of the club, Ivan Pinto greeted the gathering on Deepavali and wished the particiapnts good luck.

Around 220 participants across the district are participated in the competition which comprised of various individual and group events.

Chief convenor of the competition Dr RN Sudhir, secretary Sudhir Kumar Jain, swimming coach Ramakrishna and others were present.
