Mangaluru:CSI Shanthi Cathedral honours Dr Santosh Soans

Mangaluru, Oct 31: Dr Santosh Theodore Soans, eminent pediatrician and member of CSI Shanthi Cathedral, Balmatta here, was honoured at the morning worship service, on Sunday October 30.

Dr Soans was draped with a shawl, garlanded, presented with dry fruits and a specially prepared plaque. He has the rare distinction of being elected national president elect (2017) of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) for the year 2018, with a record margin. Dr Soans is the only second Kannadiga to win this prestigious position in the 54 year history of IAP.

Born in the well-known Soans family of Kundapur, Dr Santosh Soans is the son of Solomon Soans and Ratnamala Soans. He completed his MBBS at the Kasturba Medical College and his MD (pediatrics) at KMC Manipal. After serving abroad for a few years, Dr Soans lent his expertise to KMC, Manipal and later the Father Muller Medical College both as professor and consultant. Currently, he is professor and HOD of the neonatal intensive care and pediatric care units of A J Institute of Medical Sciences, here. Dr Soans has not only written many articles, but has also two books to his credit. Dr Soans is blessed with a loving family in Sarita Soans, his wife, and Nihal and Nikita, his two children.

The Presbyters, members of the pastorate committee and all the members of the congregation are proud of Dr Soans’ achievements and congratulate him on this happy juncture of his life. We pray that the Almighty continues to bless him and his family and use him as His instrument in all his future endeavours.
