Bengaluru: Police uncover source of money paid to Rudresh's contract killers

Bengaluru, Nov 1: The city police who hit the trail of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader, Rudresh's murder in the city sometime back, have uncovered the source of finance from where the payment was made to four contract killers. A total sum of Rs 6 lac was paid to the killers, they said.

Two leaders connected with a religious organization had played a role in delivering money to killers. Sources said that these two men have gone underground after the arrest of the killers, and that investigating teams have been active in the city and neighbouring states and find them out.

The religious leaders had hired the services of Mazhar and his three accomplices to kill Rudresh, by fixing their remuneration at Rs 6 lac. As per arrangements, the two leaders who worked as coordinators with the boss of their organization living in a neigbouring state, collected commission of Rs 20,000 from each of them and paid only Rs 5,20,000, police sources said.

The accused, Muhammed Sadiq alias Muhammed Mazhar from J C Nagar, Muhammed Mujeebulla alias Moula from R T Nagar, Wasim from Austin Town and Irfan from K G Halli here, who were doing odd jobs like mechanic, electrician, and coolie, were mentally prepared for the murder by the religious leaders, it is learnt. For this purpose, the leaders showed to them visuals of their community members facing inhuman sufferings in the country and abroad and sought their help to crush Hindu organizations who they said have become a threat to their religion, it is gathered.They used the differences between Mazhar and Rudresh to their advantage. They also assured them help to save their skins if they are caught later by the police, and also pledged to look after their families, it is gathered.

The officials in the meantime, are verifying calls made through cellphones of the culprits, by taking into possession their phones. So far, the police could unearth their link with rightist organizations. They are continuing with investigation to unravel further details. With help from cyber cell of criminal investigation department, some are being questioned. The police believe this net to be widespread, requiring prolonged investigation.
