Bantwal, Nov 1: As a result of a head-on collision between a lorry and a KSRTC bus in Manihalla on Belthangady Bantwal highway here on November 1, four persons have been seriously injured including the drivers of both of vehicles. In addition, other six persons sustained minor injuries.

As the front portion of both of vehicles were badly damaged, it was extremely difficult to pull the injured including the drivers out from the vehicles. It was also raining heavily at that time. In spite of all the difficulties deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Raveesh CR and police jeep driver Satyaprakash pulled the injured out of the vehicles and took them by department vehicle to admit into hospital.

The work of Satyaprakash was widely appreciated by everyone present at the accident spot.

The bus was playing to Dharmasthala while the lorry was moving towards BC Road.

Bantwal traffic police have registered a case.

It is yet to be established whether the two drivers of the vehicles were at fault or whether it was an unavoidable accident. In any case the drivers of all vehicles need to exercise all possible caution.

In the present scenario the highly commendable work done by deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Raveesh CR and police jeep driver Satyaprakash should be placed on record and perhaps the department should consider presenting them some awards.

Bus has occupied most of the space on the road. When will these heavy vehicles strictly start driving on the left side lane?

Too many Bus Trucks on this route and the same 100 year old narrow road.No changes on width of the road.Only patch work every year.
Not a single MP MLA MLC IAS IPS IRS talks a single line on broadening of these roads although this is only route to Dharmastala from Airport.
