Mangaluru, Nov 2: Dreaded giant hornets have built a big nest on a tree at Bajal here. These hornets are known in local parlance as 'Kanchugara or Pilikunda'.
These hornets are feared by people because the toxicity of their stings are known to kill people. They are therefore considered poisonous and people keep distance from them.
The hornets have made their cozy home near the house of Henry and Teresa at Bajal. People living in the vicinity shudder at the thought of disturbances that may be caused to this nest by external factors which might agitate the hornets. It is said that burning down the nest during the night is the only way to get rid of these hornets.
Henry said he has informed forest department officials about the imminent danger from the hornets nest and asked them to help him out. He said that the forest officials have promised to do the needful tonight.
