Puttur: Book exhibition organized at St Philomena College

Puttur, Nov 2: In view of National Library Week celebration from November 14 to 21, a book exhibition from November 2 to 30 is being organized by the library and information centre of St Philomena College, at the college library hall.

The principal, professor Leo Noronha inaugurated the book exhibition programme and said, "Books remain our prime weapon in the fight against illiteracy and opening the door to knowledge is essential for individual self-esteem and empowerment."

The librarian Abdul Rahiman G in his introductory speech said, "Under the UGC assistance, the college has purchased various types of books worth Rs 2.5 lac and has organized this exhibition. These books are available to the students to increase their knowledge and understanding on various subjects."

The PRO, professor Dinakara Rao, faculty members Prashanth Rai, Basthyam Pais, library staff John Lobo, Zita Noronha, Catherine Crasta, Peter Clifford D’Souza and PU librarian Santhosh Moras were present here. Member of library advisory committee, Geetha Poornima K proposed the vote of thanks and Dr. Vijaya Kumar M compered the programme.
