Dammam: Age no bar - Talents shine at MASA annual event

Dammam, Nov 2: MASA Talents Day, a tradition initiated by MASA a decade ago, has provided a platform to many amateur performers to showcase their talents annually. It has also provided a golden opportunity to MASA youngsters to reach greater heights in the field of arts, such as playback singing, stage acting etc through their performances at international levels.

MASA recently conducted its 10th Talents Day competition at Crystal Hall Dammam. The audience witnessed many colorful performances put forth by MASA kids, teens and seniors in various competitions such as fancy dress, dance and singing. There were as many as 100 seasoned participants; many of who were trained by professional choreographers back in Mangaluru during the extended summer vacations.

The event was inaugurated by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the president, advisory committee, Excom members and various committee heads. Entertainment committee head, Gopal Shetty welcomed the members and guests. Contest rules were briefed by president Narendra Shetty in his welcome speech. He was also the chief judge for the evening.

MASA committee, volunteers and participants ensured that the event was well organized professionally and provided entertainment to the viewers. The main objective behind MASA Talents Day competition was to create a platform and to build up the confidence level and positive atmosphere among the participating members. During the competitions, many amazing talents with new concepts, creativity and classic acts were observed in singing, fancy dress and dance. The main highlights of the event was brought about through the skits displayed by Khobar Friends who portrayed glimpses of MASA’S objectives and the entire decade's contribution towards noble cause and by Kudla Adventures Group who solved the mystery of Bahubali, the never answered question ‘Why Kattappa killed Bahubali’. The audience enjoyed every bit of the event and carried home wonderful memories. Judges had a tough time in selecting the best among the best.

As per tradition, MASA honored the visiting parents of members from India. Mothers of 4 members were welcomed to the stage and felicitated.

Winners were awarded attractive trophies and participants under 18 years were presented participation medals.

A raffle draw comprising of five attractive prizes was also conducted by the raffle Committee head, Puttaraju and team. The efforts of young children were appreciated for their excellent marketing skill of raffle tickets among the audience.

The vote of thanks was presented by the joint secretary, Mohammed Nooman. Advisory committee member Ravi Karkera appreciated all the volunteers and committee members for their great efforts in making the talents day event a great success.

Before the event came to a close, the president invited all the members and guests of MASA for its next gala event '10th anniversary and annual day 2016' which is schedule to be held on December 23 at the same venue. A souvenir will be released on the occasion and members were requested to send in their contributions in the form of articles, poems, art work, recipes advertisements etc. The mesmerizing event came to an end at 2 am with the singing of the National Anthem.
