Kundapur, Nov 3: A labourer fell from a boat into river and died on Wednesday, November 2 here.

Ramu (40) from Motipur in Uttar Pradesh (UP) is the person deceased. He is survived by wife and six children.

As per the information available, a police case stands registered at Kundapur police station regarding the matter. The complaint states that Ramu was taking the boat for repair purpose and he suddenly fell down from boat by accident. Police are investigating the matter from that angle only.

But as per locals, Ramu was on his way for sand mining. The complainants have purposely hidden the fact the Ramu was going for sand mining.

It is discovered that hundreds of labourers from northern states come here for sand mining. Some of them are experienced while many are not. Strict action by authorities can prevent further mishaps.

Some days back a person lost life near Bantwal when he jumped into river after spotting police who had come to raid the illegal sand mining.
