M'luru: Expert PU College observes Deepavali, Kannada Rajyotsava

Mangaluru, Nov 3: Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated at Kootakkala auditorium, Kodialbail on November 1. Dignitaries who presided over the programme were Tammanna Shetty, producer of award Winning Kannada movie 'Kanasu', professor Ramachnadra Bhat principal and cultural coordinator Niha.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, followed by the nadageete (state anthem) as a tribute to the state by the college choir.

Tamanna Shetty addressed the gathering and shared his views on Kannada language and its importance. “We being children of this great motherland have set an example for the entire world in terms of culture, tradition and are blessed. As Kannada is the dialect of many in south Canara, we should feel proud of its origin and beauty,” said Tammanna Shetty.

The movie 'Kanasu' was also screened at the celebration.

Prize winners of various competitions held on account of Rajyotsava celebration were felicitated.

Diwali celebration:
Diwali celebrations were also held the same day at Kootakala Auditorium. Dignitaries who presided over the programme were professor Narendra L Nayak – chairman, Expert Group of Institutions, Ushaprabha N Nayak – vice chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions, Ankush Nayak- alumni of Expert College, Ustad Rafeeq Khan- trustee, Expert Group of Institutions, professor Ramachandra Bhat- principal, Pradeep Kumar- academic advisor, Niha- cultural co-ordinator and those from Poorna Prajna Vasati Nilaya graced the occasion by their presence.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Prafulla Mallya, retired principal, Poorna Prajna senior citizens home addressed the gathering and showered her blessings on all, for a bright future ahead.

“We need not borrow anything from history nor do we need scientific reasons for celebrating Diwali. It is time for fun and enjoyment,” said Ushaprabha N Nayak. Shahbaz, a student of 1st PU spoke on the importance of Diwali.

Professor Narendra L Nayak addressed the students in Kannada and motivated them as part of Rajyotsava celebration.

Naisargi of II PU proposed the vote of thanks. It was then followed by a cultural fiesta. Students of Ist PU performed the Dandiya dance. On the spot dandiya competition was conducted for the students. The winners were felicitated by Ushaprabha N Nayak and Ankush Nayak.
