Mangaluru, Nov 3: In an incident reported on Thursday November 3 at Padukonaje near Shirtady, cattle traffickers allegedly attempted to mow down policemen with their vehicle and managed to fled. The police fired one round in the air in an effort to stop the traffickers.

Though the accused escaped, the police succeeded in seizing their Qualis vehicle and rescuing seven cows.

Moodbidri inspector Ramachandra Nayak and three policemen, on receiving definite information of illegal transport of cattle from Kashipatna in Beltangady to Shirtady were inspecting vehicles near Padukonaje cross at about 4 am. The accused in the Qualis who saw the police tried to flee, but they soon noticed SI Dejappa and two policemen inspecting vehicles near Maroor cross. The traffickers again drove to Padukonaje cross.

When the inspector Ramachandra tried to block the Qualis with the police vehicle, the accused tried to run their vehicle on the policemen. The policemen saved themselves by jumping into a rainwater drain. As the accused tried to flee, the inspector fired one round of bullets into the air, which frightened the traffickers who then got down from the Qualis and escaped through the nearby fields. The police managed to observe the faces of the accused clearly during the incident, but they are yet to be identified.

Pairs of gloves and two mobile phones were recovered from the Qualis.

Charges of obstruction to police duty, attempt to murder, violation of law against cattle slaughter, and violence to animals have been filed against the accused.

This gang must be in cow stealing business for a long time. If they have done such things from last few years, at least 700 cows are stolen and murdered.

Some sickulars comment as if this gang is innocent is not pardonable by the almighty.

The only solution is give licence to more slaughter houses in every city.
You cannot justify or trust police statements. We have seen the Bhopal Police video and we know what the police can do.
So it is high time,do not catch the people who transport cattle unless you have a information that it is stolen cattle.
Mark my words, the people who oppose Beef, cattle transport are going to pay a big price .

This is mutton for the poor. They cannot afford Lamb meat.
I hope you don't bring here religion Cow God etc.Millions of money is made on beef exports.
Be it RSS VHP or any army, they use leather seats on car sofa and plane.
This is very cheap and low to say don't eat beef.
The main agenda of Rama sene , BD ,VHP or RSS is baseless to talk about ban on beef.
Just give me one answer,One day cut off number of cows in Anand Amul city is more than 10,000 grown up big 800 Kg Cows.
All are slaughtered ,not only meat but also Omasum is exported.
It is the DK jokers who talk very cheap that cow is God,Cow should not be killed. In Gujarath, there is nothing like cow transport license, when they take out 10 live cows per container straight down to slaughter from the cow farms.
In entire India,It is only in DK that we have these jokers and jokes every now and then.

If the Police had fired above waste, Congress may have stepped in with their fake encounter theory to save the accused.See the case of SIMI encounter in MP: Nobody care to debate on the death of a police officer on duty. They all are worried about eight fugitives escaped from the central jail by killing a policeman on guard to engage further themselves on anti-national activities. Indeed, poor policeman cannot bring a single vote but a few from Minority can in good measure. Misplaced priorities compounded by the cost implications of embracing a pseudo-democracy...........

What audacity to attempt to run down police officers with a vehicle. It is only a question of time before the culprits are booked.

No one can escape the alert eyes of the policemen who have already seen the faces of the fleeing cattle traffickers.

It is a question of a couple of days before the truth fully revealed.
