Kundapur, Nov 4: A leopard from forest which had lost its way and straying was caught in paddy field in Koodlu Badabettu, of Hattiangady grama panchayat limits on Friday, November 4.
The three years old leopard is suspected to have come looking for food on Thursday night, November 3. Women, who had gone to cut grass in the morning on Friday, heard the leopard rasping yowls. They informed the local people. Hattiangady grama panchayat president Rajeeva Shetty later informed the forest department.
Kundapur assistant forest officer Gururaj, Dilip Hema, forest guard Shivakumar, staff Udaya and Ashok with the cooperation of villagers rescued the leopard after three and a half hours long operation with the help of a net and a cage.
