Mangaluru, Nov 5:  A city bus hit a stationary tractor that was busy with planting of plants in the divider on national highway at Kallapu near Thokkottu on national highway 66 on Friday November 4. In this  incident, tractor driver suffered serious injuries.

A contractor has been assigned with the task of providing a touch of greenery to the  highway divider at Kallapu by planting plants. The tractor that had brought workers and plants for the purpose had been stationed near the divider at Kallapu for the purpose. A private bus, which reportedly was trying to overtake another vehicle, hit the tractor from the rear side. In this accident, driver of the tractor, identified as Hanumanth (33) from Bagalkot suffered grievous injuries. He was admitted into a private hospital in the city.

In this accident, the tractor received most of the impact and it was badly mangled. Spare parts of the tractor as well as its tyres were found strewn all over, even beyond the divider. The women workers who were in the tractor for the planting work, saved themselves from imminent danger by jumping off the tractor at the last moment. The bus driver sustained minor injuries in the accident.

A case about this accident was registered in Ullal police station.
