Puttur, Nov 5: Elyanna (40), residing at Malepadpu in Shantigodu village in the taluk committed suicide by hanging himself. He was eking out a living by working as coolie, it is gathered. The fact that he had ended his life came to light on Friday November 4.
Elyanna had not been seen since October 30. His decomposed body was found hanging from a tree in the hillock at Panambu in Shantigodu village. As Elyanna was heavily addicted to consuming intoxicating substances, his wife had deserted him and started living with her kids at her parental home since sometime back. It is suspected that Elyanna was frustrated at his loneliness and his inability to wriggle out of liquor addiction.
Based on a report filed by brother of the deceased, Balappa, a case of unnatural death stands registered in town police station here.
