Kasargod, Nov 5: An Endosulfan affected victim committed suicide as she was unable to spend for medical treatment any more. The incident came to light on Friday evening, November 4.

The deceased woman is identified Rajivi (60) from Belluru.

Her children, who had gone for daily wage work, found the woman hanging when they returned home. She had received no compensation from the government even though she had received treatment from several hospitals. Doctors had suggested for surgery. She was depressed as she had no money for it.

She needed Rs 60,000 to treat heart ailment and Rs 2,500 for treatment every week. She was getting no assistance from the government other than Rs 1,200 monthly pension. She had submitted applications to government offices requesting for monetary help but there was no response.

Her husband Vishwanath had died few years ago. Daily wages were their only source of income in the family.

Her dead body was handed over to her relatives on Saturday morning, November 5 after conducting post-mortem at Kasargod general hospital.
