Kasargod, Nov 6: A village officer, who was receiving bribe from a villager in return for giving sketch of her land, was nabbed by the vigilance cell offiicials of the government on Saturday November 5. The accused in this case happens to be Sudhakaran (51), village officer of Bayaru village on Karnataka border which falls under Paivalike gram panchayat. Sudhakaran is a resident of Alappuzha Mavelikkara.

Local farmer, Fashima Khalid, had been trying to get sketch of her property from the village officer since the last some months, it is said. The official used to procrastinate the issue by citing various reasons. Fed up by this delay, Fashima had called Sudhakaran over phone and repeated her request, at which he told her to pay Rs 2,000 if she urgently required the sketch.

Fashima then complained to the vigilance department.  When she was handing over bribe as demanded, officials of the anti corruption department of vigilance department raided the spot and arrested the accused.

Vigilance deputy superintendent of police, Damodaran, circle inspector, Anil Kumar and others were present. Vigilance officials also said that there are complaints of  Sudhakaran coming to office intoxicated. They said that they would interrogate the arrested accused and then take steps as would be legally necessary.
