Sullia, Nov 7: The police here registered a criminal case against a judge on the charges of assaulting an auto rickshaw driver and police personnel on Sunday, November 6.

The accused person identified as Unnikrishnan is from Thrissur in Kerala and works as magistrate in Kasargod.

As per the police, Unnikrishnan had gone to Kukke Subramanya Temple. From there, he came here by a bus. Later, he took an auto rickshaw and told the driver named Abubakar something in English. Abubakar did not understand what the judge said.

While on the way, Abubakar asked Unnikrishnan in Malayalam what he had told him earlier in English. The judge continued to speak in English again and subsequently tried to assault the driver.

Shocked by this, Abubakar drove the auto rickshaw straight to the police station. It is said that the judge assaulted Abubakar in front of police personnel at the police station. When police constable Suchin and home guard Abdul Gafoor tried to intervene, Unnikrishnan assaulted them too, as per police.
