Kasargod,   Nov 7: A gang of nomads tried to force itself into a house at Bela Kumaramangala near Neerchalu, Badiyadka in the district on the evening of Saturday, November 5. When the owner of the house, a senior woman, resisted their entry, she was stabbed and injured.

Parameshwari Amma (60) from Kumaramangala was the person who came under attack and suffered injury. The nature of her injury was serious and therefore she stands admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru for treatment.

Parameshwari Amma, wife of the late Venkat Bhat, was living alone after the demise of her husband in this house. A gang of nomads, pretending to collect scrap from the roadside on Saturday evening, suddenly barged into her house. The woman tried to stop the group but was attacked with a knife. She then rushed outside for help. A lady teacher who was passing by took her to the government hospital at Kumble.  On the way, when the auto rickshaw was moving through Darbethadka, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The autorickshaw hit a roadside tree, and its driver, Rajkumar (28) from Bela village was injured and thence admitted to the government hospital at Kumble. Both Parameshwari and Rajkumar were taken to the hospital in another vehicle.

Parameshwari was later shifted to a hospital at Mangaluru while the auto driver is being treated at Kumble.  Badiyadka police registered the case, inspected the scene, and took up an investigation.
