Mangaluru: Avil D'Cruz conferred 12th Mandd Sobhann Kalakar Puraskar

Mangaluru, Nov 7: The 12th 'Carvalho Ghorannem - Mandd Sobhann Kalakar Puraskar' was bestowed upon young Konkani dancer and choreographer Avil Deepak D'Cruz on Sunday November 6 at Kalaangann here.

Harry Fernandes, director of the successful Konkani Film 'Noshibacho Khell', presented the award. He congratulated Avil for his contribution in promoting Konkani dance forms through Nach Sobhann for the last 16 years.

 

 

After receiving the award, Avil thanked Mandd Sobhann and Carvalho Ghorannem for having chosen him for this award. He said that the award has given him a greater responsibility to take Konkani dance forms to higher levels. He also thanked all those who helped him grow in this field.

The award comprised Rs 25,000 cash, shawl, memento, citation and public honour.

Fr Dr Pratap Naik, representative of Carvalho Ghorannem, Mandd Sobhann Gurkar, Eric Ozario and president, Louis Pinto were present on the dais. Mandd Sobhann treasurer, Joel Pinto read out the citation. Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the programme.

The award ceremony was followed by the 179th Monthly Theatre 'Mariola' - a musical show by Anil D'Sa Pangla and his team of singers consisting of Varun D'Sa, Nihal Tauro, Shilpa Cutinha, Babita Pinto, Prakash D'Souza, Meera Crasta and Oliver Rebello. They were backed on music by Roshan D'Souza Angelore and his team. 'Bindas Pernal' presented comedy skits and Alwyn Danthy compered the show.

A houseful audience witnessed the programme.
