Bengaluru, Nov 8: State minister, Roshan Baig, has filed defamation suit in the eighth additional chief metropolitan magistrate court in the city relating to allegations levelled against him by MP, Shobha Karandlaje.
Karandlaje had said that Baig was directly involved with the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist from Shivaji Nagara, Rudresh recently. He has sought relief of Rs 10 crore from her towards his slander.
Advocate representing Baig, Shankarappa, said in his plaint that the above statement made by Karandlaje was libelous in nature and had resulted in defamation of his client.

"Roshan Baig has been in political field since the last many years, and he has been serving the society in various ways. As the minister in the state cabinet, he has undertaken many people-friendly initiatives. MP, Shobha Karandlaje, has sullied his reputation by issuing statements to the media alleging that Baig was directly involved with the murder of RSS activist, Rudresh," the court has been told, Shankarappa said.
In the suit, Karandlaje has been accused of committing crimes under section 121A, 200, 203, 499, 500, 501 and some other sections.
