Mangaluru, Nov 8: State home minister, Dr G Parameshwar, said that the city will be provided with 25 additional police patrol cars to enable the department to make the patrolling work more effective.

He gave this information when addressing a press conference here on Monday November 7. "We already have provided Ertiga patrol vehicles to police at Bengaluru. They have been provided to enable the department to respond to situations quickly and reach the spot as fast as possible. For managing them, separate tabs are provided to the control room and police personnel. Identification of their location by using the tab and dispatch of additional police personnel etc can be managed through these facilities. We are now extending this facility to this city too," he explained.

The minister said that the government has already undertaken certain measures for streamlining of traffic system in the state, and that these processes have already been in vogue in Bengaluru and Mysuru cities. "This is an initiative that will be implemented in phases. This system has been put to practice in Bengaluru since the last three years. Now we are taking up this city under this system. For this purpose, each of the cities will get Rs 15 to 100 crore grant every year," he explained.

Parameshwar said that the work of reorganization of police stations on the basis of area of jurisdiction, number of personnel etc is on at present at Bengaluru. Under this process, a new post of deputy commissioner of police gets created, he revealed.
