Kasargod, Nov 8: The state high court (HC) has sought details about the case about unruly behaviour by a magistrate from the state at Sullia and obstructing of police from discharging their duties by him in drunken state.

The HC sought the details from V K Unnikrishnan from Thrissur here, who functions as judicial first class magistrate in the town. The magistrate has complained that he was returning after visiting Subrahmanya temple when he was taken into custody by police at Sullia illegally. He has got admitted into a private hospital in the town for treatment of injuries he allegedly suffered at the hands of Sullia police.

"I questioned an auto rickshaw driver from Sullia about justification of his demand for payment of exorbitant fare. A home guard there also acted in favour of the auto rickshaw driver. When Sullia police, who got information about the tussle, got there, I showed my identity card to them. They threw the card away, took me to the police station where they attacked and kicked me," the magistrate said in the complaint.

He said he sought water to drink. He claimed that instead the police mixed liquor to Pepsi and forcibly made him to drink the concoction.

It is said that the magistrate has suffered some injuries, and a detailed investigation alone can explain about them. Therefore, it is said that the HC has decided to take up the matter on its own. As of now, two cases stand registered against the said magistrate in Sullia police station.

Now there are three faults committed by him....visiting Temple in drunken state.....Being a Magistrate fighting with common people in drunken state and attacking Govt Servant in drunken state..... I think being a smart person of Magistrate calibre.... he would say “Your Honour….I am not responsible for this fighting but you need to take action against “Sharaab Seller”
