Mangaluru, Nov 8: The district BJP held protest here at DC office on November 8 over the Siddaramaiah government’s decision to go ahead with Tipu Jayanti and also over the recent murders of RSS and Sangh Parivar workers in the state,

MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik speaking on the occasion said "Last year it was Kuttappa and this year it is Ravi and Dongre. This foolish decision of celebrating Tipu Jayanti by the chief minister has created confusion in the state. We do not oppose celebration of Jayanti. The birthdays of great personalities who have contributed for the betterment of the society should be celebrated. But this government is celebrating Tipu Jayanti, who was a communal, cruel and anti Hindu as well as anti Christians ruler. He destroyed the religious places and hurt the sentiments of people of other religions."

"Siddaramaiah should answer the people of this state as to whether the facts in the history are wrong. What is his intension behind celebration of Tipu Jayanti? Three people of the state have already lost their lives because of this Jayanti. You should answer their families. Tipu changed the names of the places in Karnataka into Muslim names, he destroyed 8000 plus temples and changed it to mosques, Tipu gave two choices to people either to accept Quran or give head to the sword. He converted around 50,000 Hindus." Karnik added.

"Tipu had written a letter to his army chief which is there in the museum of England in which he had said that the people who do not accept Quran should be killed. All the Mughal and other Muslim rulers destroyed temples and built the mosques. The same culture was continued by Tipu. Siddaramaiah, whose Jayanti you are celebrating? By celebrating his Jayanti what message you are giving to the nation?" Karnik continued.

"The government has given an order not to celebrate Jayanti openly but to celebrate in government offices. They have already realized their mistake. But Siddu means arrogance and foolishness.” Karnik concluded.

Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel said "Siddaramaiah is a terrorist and it is my demand that his name should be announced as Saddam Sulthan. From the past one year, the majority number of people of the state is opposing Tipu Jayanti. Reasons are very clear for it. Tipu destroyed temples, made conversions and attacked people of other religions. In Islam, celebration of Jayanti is prohibited and by celebrating Tipu Jayanti, Siddaramaiah has hurt the sentiments of Muslims.”

"Secondly the churches of Christian community were attacked by Tipu from Madikeri to Dakshina Kannada. Tipu destroyed Iruvail Church in Moodbidri. Tipu Sulthan attacked Hindus and Christians. Now by celebrating Tipu Jayanti, Siddaramaiah has hurt the sentiments of people of this state." Nalin added.

"Eight RSS workers were murdered in last 3 years. ISIS terrorists are entering Mangaluru through Kerala. But Siddaramaiah is sleeping. He has not listed to our demands not to observe Tipu Jayanti, Police have asked offenders to give Rs 10 lac bond on Tipu Jayanti day. I demand that all the cabinet ministers from state should give bond of Rs 1 crore each as they are responsible if clashes take place." Nalin warned.

"I question superintendent of police, who has given him the right? He should take bond from chief minister. If Siddaramaiah is responsible chief minister, he should take back Tipu Jayanti. If not, he will be responsible for all the violence which will occur in the state." Nalin said.
